Melon With Lavender Syrup Recipe - Cooking Index
1/2 cup | 99g / 3.5oz | Sugar |
1/2 cup | 118ml | -- water |
1/4 cup | 59ml | Sweet dessert wine* |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Orange juice |
1/4 cup | 59ml | Fresh or dried lavender - - flowers |
1 cup | 237ml | Ripe melon - cubed (large) |
Garnish | ||
Fresh mint leaves |
* Sauterne, Grenache or sweet Riesling.
Bring sugar, water, wine and orange juice to a boil; reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring once or twice to dissolve sugar. Add lavender flowers. Cover and steep for 1 to 2 hours. Strain out lavender flowers, pressing on pulp.
To serve, pour syrup over melon; gently toss. Garnish with mint leaves.
Yield: 4 to 6 servings.
