Light Brownies

Recipe Ingredients

1/3 cup 65g / 2.3ozButter - or replace with:
1/3 cup 65g / 2.3oz- shortening mixed with
1 tablespoon 15ml- hot water
1 cup 160g / 5.6ozBrown sugar
1   Egg
1 teaspoon 5mlVanilla
1 cup 62g / 2.2ozFlour
1/2 teaspoon 2.5mlBaking powder
1/8 teaspoon 0.6mlBaking soda
4 oz 113gSemi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 teaspoon 2.5mlSalt
1/2 cup 73g / 2.6ozChopped nuts - optional

Recipe Instructions

Melt butter (or shortening with water) in sauce pan over medium heat.

Remove from heat, add to brown sugar and mix well. Allow mixture to cool. Stir in egg and vanilla.

Add remaining dry ingredients and mix well. Pour mixture into greased baking pan (8x8 or 11x7).

Bake at 350F for 20 to 25 minutes.
