Hazelnut Christmas Balls Recipe - Cooking Index
| 1/2 cup | 99g / 3.5oz | Shortening |
| 1/4 cup | 49g / 1.7oz | Sugar |
| 1 | Beaten egg yolk | |
| 1 teaspoon | 5ml | Grated lemon peel |
| 1 tablespoon | 15ml | Grated orange peel |
| 1 teaspoon | 5ml | Lemon juice |
| 1 cup | 62g / 2.2oz | Cake flour |
| 1/8 teaspoon | 0.6ml | Salt |
| 1 | Egg white - slightly beaten | |
| 1/2 cup | 73g / 2.6oz | Finely diced Oregon hazelnuts |
| 9 | Candied cherries |
Cream shortening with sugar.
Add egg yolk, orange and lemon peels, and lemon juice. Beat until fluffy.
Add flour and salt.
Chill dough for approximately 1 hour.
Form small balls with teaspoon. Dip in egg white and roll in chopped nuts.
Press half candied cherry in each cookie.
Bake at 375F for 1 minute.
