Grandma Peagrams Rice Pudding Recipe - Cooking Index
4 cups | 948ml | Milk - 2 % |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Butter |
1/3 cup | 53g / 1.9oz | Rice - short grain * |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Vanilla |
1/4 cup | 40g / 1.4oz | Brown sugar - packed |
1 | Salt |
In a large saucepan, heat milk over medium high heat until bubbles appear around edge. Remove from heat. In a greased 8 cup baking dish preferably glass, combine milk, rice, sugar, butter, vanilla and salt.
Bake in 300F oven about 2 hours or until rice is just tender and most of milk is absorbed, stirring twice during first hour.
I used long grain and it turned out fine.
