| 1/2 cup | 99g / 3.5oz | Butter |
| 1 cup | 110g / 3.9oz | Chocolate chips - (6 oz.) |

| 1/2 cup | 118ml | Orange juice |
| 1 1/4 cups | 78g / 2.8oz | All-purpose flour |
| 3/4 teaspoon | 3.8ml | Baking soda |
| 1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Salt |
| 1 cup | 146g / 5.1oz | Chopped walnuts |
| Orange Glaze | ||
| 3 cups | 594g / 20oz | Confectioner's sugar |
| 1/4 cup | 49g / 1.7oz | Butter - softened |
| 1 teaspoon | 5ml | Grated orange peel |
| 1/3 cup | 78ml | Milk |
In a saucepan, combine the dates, sugar, water and butter. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, or until dates are softened. Remove from heat; stir in chocolate chips.
Beat eggs, milk and orange juice. Combine flour baking soda and salt; add to date mixture alternately with orange juice mixture, mixing well after each addition. Stir in walnuts. Pour into a greased 15x10x1" baking pan.
Bake at 350F. for 25-30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
Cool. Combine confectioner's sugar, butter and orange peel; stir in milk until glaze reaches desired consistency. Spread over bars.
Yield: 3 dozen.
