Glazed Apple Tart Recipe - Cooking Index
This tart is very simple to make, but it will need 45 minutes to bake and 5 more minutes to glaze. It is a combination of an American apple crumble and a French apple tart. If pressed for time, buy a ready-made crust.

1 cup | 62g / 2.2oz | All-purpose flour |
1/2 cup | 80g / 2.8oz | Brown sugar |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Ground cinnamon |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Unsalted butter |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Canola oil |
Filling | ||
2 lbs | 908g / 32oz | Granny smith apples |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Sugar |
Glaze | ||
1 cup | 237ml | Apricot jam |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Water |
Preheat oven to 350F.
For the crust: Mix flour, brown sugar and cinnamon together. Add butter and oil and cut in with pastry cutter or rub with fingers. Gently press into a 9-inch pie plate. The pie crust does not need rolling out. Simply push into a pie plate with fingers.
For the filling: Peel, core, and slice apples lengthwise into 1/4-inch slices. Set aside one-third of the best-looking apple slices. Spoon remaining apples into pie plate. Spread evenly over crust. Place the best apple slices in circles over top of pie, overlapping each slice. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake 45 minutes.
For the glaze: Heat jam and water in a saucepan without boiling. Strain and brush over top layer of apples after pie is baked.
