I just brewed some sweet tea myself today, and your post brings to mind the question: just how much sweet qualifies sweet tea as the real thing? My mother, to this day, brews her tea with four Lipton tea bags to two cups water, steep ten minutes, add to a pitcher of water that has one full cup of sugar already mixed in it.
When I moved up north, people *gagged* drinking my sweet tea. I've finally got it down to about a half cup...but it just doesn't taste the same. I'm going home to Miss. in May -- and I'll drink lots of that one-cup sugar sweet tea. How does everyone else make it?
