3/4 teaspoon | 3.8ml | Cream of tartar |
2 cups | 396g / 13oz | Sugar |
2 cups | 396g / 13oz | Crushed soda - crackers (about 45) |
3/4 cup | 109g / 3.8oz | Chopped nuts |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Vanilla |
2 cups | 474ml | Whipping cream* |
1 | Cherry pie filling |
Preheat oven to 350F.
Beat egg whites until frothy, add cream of tartar, then gradually add sugar. Beat until stiff. Fold in crushed crackers, nuts and vanilla. Spread in well buttered 9 x 13 glass baking dish. Bake at 350 for 25 minutes. Cool on rack. Whip cream, spread over top and spoon pie filling over cream. Chill several hours or overnight before serving.
*I have used two packages of Dream Whip in this to cut down on calories.
