Chocolate Bread Pudding - 4 Recipe - Cooking Index
1 1/2 cups | 355ml | Milk |
1 cup | 198g / 7oz | Sugar |
1 cup | 146g / 5.1oz | Soft bread crumbs |
1 1/2 oz | 42g | Baking chocolate |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Margarine |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Eggs (large) |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Salt |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Vanilla extract |
1/2 cup | 118ml | Milk |
Whipped cream - optional |
1. Place in top of double boiler the 1-1/2 cups milk, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup stale bread crumbs and 1-1/2 ounces chocolate. Cook over hot water until smooth.
2. Stir in 2 tablespoons margarine.
3. Beat eggs until light; add salt, vanilla and 1/2 cup milk. Whisk into the chocolate mixture. Cook until thick.
4. Pour into a serving dish or to make a firmer pudding, pour into a greased (with margarine) casserole dish and bake for 20 minutes at 350F. Add 1/2 cup chopped walnuts after cooking if you prefer. Chill and serve with whipped cream.
