Apple Oatmeal Crumble

Recipe Ingredients

6 cups 1422mlPeeled - cored, and thinly Sliced apples - (about 7 apples)
2 tablespoons 30mlFresh lemon juice
1/2 cup 80g / 2.8ozWhite or brown sugar - firmly packed
1/2 cup 31g / 1.1ozRolled old-fashioned oats
1/4 cup 15g / 0.5ozAll-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon 2.5mlGround cinnamon
6 tablespoons 90mlButter - cut into pieces
1/2 cup 73g / 2.6ozChopped nuts - lightly toasted

Recipe Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350F. Butter a shallow 8-cup ovenproof pan.

In a large bowl toss the apple slices with the lemon juice and 2 tablespoons of the sugar. Spread the slices in the buttered pan. In the same bowl mix the remaining sugar, oats, flour, and cinnamon.

With your fingertips rub the butter into the dry ingredients until it sticks together in crumbles, then mix in the nuts. Scatter the topping over the apple slices. Put the pan in the oven and bake until the topping is brown and crisp and the apples tender, 30 to 40 minutes.

Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
