Apple Kuchen Recipe - Cooking Index
1/2 cup | 99g / 3.5oz | Butter - melted |
1/2 cup | 99g / 3.5oz | Sugar - (+4tbs.) |
1 cup | 62g / 2.2oz | All-purpose flour |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Baking powder |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Vanilla extract |
1 | Egg - beaten | |
8 | Granny smith apples - :: (large) Peeled - cored, cut in Slices | |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Cinnamon |
3 tablespoons | 45ml | Slivered almonds |
Preheat oven to 350F. In a large bowl, mix together the butter, 1/2 cup sugar, flour, baking powder, vanilla extract and egg.
Pour half the batter into a greased 8" square baking pan and spread to cover bottom. In another lge bowl, toss the apple slices with the remaining 4 tbs. sugar and cinnamon, then place on top of the batter in the baking pan.
Spread the remaining batter over the apple mixture. Bake for 20 minutes, then sprinkle with almonds and bake for 30 minutes more.
