Apple Flake Crunch Recipe - Cooking Index
6 cups | 1422ml | Apples; pared - cored, and |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Brown or granulated sugar |
3 tablespoons | 45ml | Orange juice |
1/3 cup | 53g / 1.9oz | Brown sugar - firmly packed |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Butter or margarine |
1/2 cup | 31g / 1.1oz | Corn flakes |
1/2 cup | 31g / 1.1oz | Unbleached flour - sifted |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Nutmeg or cinnamon |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Orange rind - grated |
3 tablespoons | 45ml | Orange juice |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Butter |
Preheat the oven to 375F. Arrange the apples in a greased 10 X 6 X 2-Inch baking dish. Sprinkle with 2 T of sugar then with 3 T of orange juice.
Work 1/3 cup Brown Sugar and 2 T butter until creamy. Add the next 4 ingredients and mix until crumbly. Spread on the apples. Sprinkle with 3 T of orange juice and dot with 1 T butter.
Bake in a moderately hot oven of 375F for 45 minutes. To Serve; Serve hot or cold with whipped cream if desired.
