1 tablespoon | 15ml | Oil |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Onion - grated (medium) |
2 | Garlic - minced | |
1 cup | 237ml | Tomato ketchup |
3/4 cup | 177ml | Cider vinegar |
3/4 cup | 177ml | Water |
6 tablespoons | 90ml | Brown sugar |
6 tablespoons | 90ml | Chili powder |
1 | Tomato paste | |
3 tablespoons | 45ml | Worcestershire sauce |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Prepared mustard |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Black pepper |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Dark Karo syrup |
Saute the onion and garlic until they are softened, about 5 minutes.
Mix in the remaining ingredients, reduce the heat to low and cook the mixture until it thickens, approximately 30 minutes.
Stir frequently. If the consistency is thicker that you prefer, add a little water.
