Puerto Rican-Style Sweet And Sour Barbecue Sauces

Recipe Ingredients

  Sweet sauce
1/4 cup 49g / 1.7ozSugar
1/4 cup 59mlLime juice - fresh
1 tablespoon 15mlGarlic - minced
1 tablespoon 15mlJalapeno pepper - minced
1/4 cup 4g / 0.1ozCilantro - rough chopped
  Salt and pepper to taste
  Sour sauce
1/2 cup 118mlKetchup
3 tablespoons 45mlMolasses
1 tablespoon 15mlRed wine vinegar
1 tablespoon 15mlA-1 steak sauce
1 tablespoon 15mlDark rum
2 teaspoons 10mlAllspice - ground

Recipe Instructions

For sweet sauce: Combine all ingredients in small sauce pan and bring to a boil over high heat.

Reduce to low heat and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

For the sour sauce: Combine all ingredients in a small bowl and mix well.

over and refrigerate until ready to use.
