Beer And Molasses Barbeque Sauce Recipe - Cooking Index
1 1/4 cups | 296ml | Bottled chili sauce |
3/4 cup | 177ml | Mild-flavored - (light) molasses |
3/4 cup | 177ml | Beer |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Dijon mustard |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Chili powder |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Soy sauce |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Hot pepper sauce - (such as Tabasco) |
1 1/2 teaspoons | 7.5ml | Fresh lemon juice |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Hickory-flavored liquid smoke |
Mix all ingredients in heavy medium saucepan. Bring to boil over medium heat -- stirring occasionally.
Reduce heat -- simmer until sauce thickens and is reduced to 2 cups -- stirring frequently -- about 15 minutes.
Cool completely before using. (Can be made one week ahead. Cover and chill.)
This tangy sauce is great for grilled chicken or spareribs. Build up a shiny glaze by brushing the sauce often over meat -- beginning about 15 minutes from the end of cooking time.
