Barbecue Sauce With Honey

Serves: 8 people

Recipe Ingredients

2 tablespoons 30mlOlive oil
1 1/2 cups 93g / 3.3ozOnions - finely chopped
2 tablespoons 30mlGarlic - finely chopped
1   Tomatoes - crushed, 28 oz
1   Tomato paste - 6 oz
1/2 cup 118mlRed wine vinegar
1/4 cup 59mlWorcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon 15mlChili powder
1 tablespoon 15mlCoriander - ground
3 tablespoons 45mlLemon juice
1/4 teaspoon 1.3mlRed pepper flakes
1 tablespoon 15mlTabasco sauce
2 tablespoons 30mlOregano fresh or 1 tb dried
2 teaspoons 10mlCumin - ground
2   Bay leaves
4   Thyme sprig fresh or 1 ts - dry
1 teaspoon 5mlBlack pepper - freshly ground
4 tablespoons 60mlHoney
1   Salt

Recipe Instructions

Servings: 8 Heat the oil in a saucepan and add the onions. Cook, stirring until wilted.

Add the garlic, cook briefly and add the remaining ingredients.

Bring to a simmer and cook, stirring often, about 30 minutes. Let the sauce cool and use for basting.

Refrigerates well.

Makes 5 cups.
