Rodney's Hushpuppies Recipe - Cooking Index
3 1/2 cups | 218g / 7.7oz | White cornmeal |
1 1/4 cups | 78g / 2.8oz | Plain flour |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Baking powder |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Salt |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Pepper |
3 teaspoons | 15ml | Eggs - beaten (large) |
1 1/4 cups | 296ml | Milk |
2/3 cup | 41g / 1.4oz | Onion - finely chopped |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Sugar |
1/2 cup | 118ml | Oil or bacon grease |
Stir dry ingredients together. Combine eggs, milk, onion and oil together. Add to dry ingredients and stir until blended. Measure into stirring spoon (a little bigger than a Tablespoon) portions and place on trays.
Fry in deep fryer at 350F for 3-4 minutes or until browned. Drain on absorbent paper.
