Raleigh Hushpuppies Recipe - Cooking Index
2 cups | 125g / 4.4oz | Cornmeal |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Baking soda |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Salt |
6 tablespoons | 90ml | Onions - chopped |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Flour |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Baking powder |
1 | Egg | |
2 cups | 474ml | Buttermilk |
Red pepper - to taste |
Straight from my old Grammy's sister in Raleigh:
Mix all dry ingredients, add chopped onion; then milk and egg, beaten together. Drop by small spoonfuls into boiling deep fat. They will float when done. Drain on brown paper.
