Cabbage Stew (Cabbage Kootu)

Recipe Ingredients

1 cup 237mlTur - (toor) gram dal
200   Cabbage
50   French beans
1   Ripe tomato
1   Drumstick
1 teaspoon 5mlThick tamarind juice
1 teaspoon 5mlSugar
1 teaspoon 5mlChile powder
1/2 teaspoon 2.5mlAsafetida
1/2 teaspoon 2.5mlPeeled black gram dal
1/2 teaspoon 2.5mlBlack mustard seeds
1 tablespoon 15mlDhaniya seeds
6   Pepper seeds
  Coconut - (a small piece)
  Salt - to taste

Recipe Instructions

1. Boil dal.

2. Chop vegetables into small pieces. Boil.

3. Mix both with chile powder, salt, asafetida, sugar and tamarind juice.

4. Heat oil. fry black gram dal and mustard seeds.

5. Grind coconut, dhaniya seeds and pepper seeds.

6. Add both masalas to the kootu, cook for 5 minutes on low heat.
