Swiss Chalet Dip Recipe - Cooking Index
1 cup | 237ml | Dry white wine |
2 cups | 292g / 10oz | Swiss cheese - shredded |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | All-purpose flour |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Brandy |
1 | Garlic - crushed | |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Onion - finely diced |
1/8 teaspoon | 0.6ml | Freshly ground black pepper - or to taste |
1/4 cup | 36g / 1.3oz | Smoked ham - finely diced |
Garnish | ||
1/8 teaspoon | 0.6ml | Ground nutmeg - or to taste |
Place the wine in a saucepan over medium-high heat.
Mix the Swiss cheese and flour together and gradually add to the wine, stirring constantly, until all the cheese is melted and mixture is smooth.
Remove from the heat and add the brandy, garlic, onion, pepper, and ham.
Pour into a chafing dish and sprinkle with nutmeg. Serve hot.
Makes about 3 1/4 cups of dip.
Dipper suggestions: apples, artichoke hearts, crackers, French bread chunks, ham, salami.
