1/2 cup | 99g / 3.5oz | Butter or margarine |
1/2 cup | 73g / 2.6oz | Shredded sharp cheddar cheese |
1 | Egg | |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Cayenne* |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Dry mustard |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Salt |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Sugar |
1 2/3 cups | 104g / 3.7oz | All-purpose flour |
*Or, extra-hot powdered chile.
Beat softened butter and cheese together. Add egg, cayenne, mustard, salt and sugar. Beat until blended. Gradually add the flour, beating until all flour is combined. Divide the finished dough into two balls.
Form the ball into a log, 1 1/2" in diameter. Sprinkle 1 1/2 tablespoons sesame seeds on a piece of waxed paper; press the seeds lightly into the log.
Repeat for the second ball. Place each roll in waxed paper or plastic wrap. Chill for 2 hours or until the next day.
When ready to bake, slice 1/4" thick and place on a cookie sheet, slightly apart.
Bake at 375F for 8 to 10 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from oven immediately.
