Casera Sauce (Salsa Casera)

Recipe Ingredients

2 cups 125g / 4.4ozTomatoes * (medium)
1 cup 62g / 2.2ozOnion * (medium)
1   Garlic *
1   Canned jalapeno pepper - seed
1 tablespoon 15mlFinely snipped cilantro
1 tablespoon 15mlLemon juice
1 1/2 teaspoons 7.5mlVegetable oil
1/2 teaspoon 2.5mlDried oregano leaves
1/2 teaspoon 2.5mlJalapeno pepper liquid

Recipe Instructions

*Finely chopped

Mix all ingredients.

Cover and refrigerate in glass or plastic container.

Refrigerate no longer than 7 days. Yield: about 2 cups of sauce.

My cookbook has a note in there stating that a bottled tomato and yellow chili sauce can be substituted in recipes calling for Casera Sauce.
