Sweet & Sour Green Beans Recipe - Cooking Index

1 | Water chestnuts - sliced | |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Cornstarch |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Salt |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Brown sugar - packed |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Onion - sliced (small) |
1 lb | 454g / 16oz | Can - french style green b |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Dry mustard |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Vinegar |
3 tablespoons | 45ml | Chopped pimento |
In a skillet, fry bacon until crisp. Remove, drain and crumble. Add onion and chestnuts to bacon drippings and saute until onion is golden, stirring frequently. Drain beans, reserving 1/2 c. liquid.
Combine bean liquid, cornstarch, salt, mustard, brown sugar, vinegar. Add to skillet. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens. Add green beans and pimento, heat through. Serve garnished with crumbled bacon.
