Onion Tart Recipe - Cooking Index
Pastry for 9" pie shell | ||
3 cups | 187g / 6.6oz | White onions - thinly sliced |
3 tablespoons | 45ml | Butter |
2 cups | 474ml | Sour cream |
2 | Eggs - slightly beaten | |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Salt |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Black pepper |
1/8 teaspoon | 0.6ml | Nutmeg |
1/8 teaspoon | 0.6ml | Ground ginger |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Caraway seed |
1/8 teaspoon | 0.6ml | Paprika |
Roll out pastry and fit into 9" pie pan. Bake at 450for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and cool. While shell cools, saute onion in butter slowly until golden. Beat sour cream into eggs.
Add cooked onions, salt, pepper, nutmeg, and ginger to egg mixture. Turn into pie shell. Sprinkle with caraway and paprika.
Bake at 450F for 10 minutes and at 350F for 30 minutes, or until knife comes clean.
