Green Beans And Fried Breadcrumbs Recipe - Cooking Index
The crunchiness of the breadcrumbs combined with the tender beans is both unusual and delicious.
Type: Vegetables2 cups | 292g / 10oz | Fresh bread crumbs - coarsely crumbled |
10 oz | 284g | Green beans - trimmed and cooked |
4 oz | 113g | Butter |
Salt - to taste | ||
Black pepper - freshly ground, to taste |
Preheat the oven to 450F. Lay the crumbs on an oven tray and roast for 5 to 6 minutes, until golden. Cook the beans in boiling salted water until al dente (4 to 6 minutes).
Meanwhile, melt the butter in a small skillet. Stirring, add the breacrumbs and continue to stir until they have soaked up the butter and turned brown. Season with salt and pepper. Cover the freshly boiled beans with the breadcrumb mixture.
This is an excellent accompaniment for chicken or fish. This recipe serves 4.
