Fried Green Tomatoes - 2 Recipe - Cooking Index
1/3 cup | 48g / 1.7oz | Dry bread crumbs - fine |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Sugar |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Salt |
1/8 teaspoon | 0.6ml | Pepper |
1/4 cup | 59ml | Vegetable oil |
3 cups | 187g / 6.6oz | Green tomatoes - sliced 1/2" thick (medium) |
In a small shallow dish, stir together bread crumbs, sugar, salt and pepper.
In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Coat tomato slices with crumb mixture, patting off excess. Fry a few slices at a time about 3 to 4 minutes, turning once, or until lightly browned. Drain on paper towels. Repeat with remaining tomatoes. Makes about 4 servings.
