Falafel (Chickpea Burger) Recipe - Cooking Index
1/2 lb | 227g / 8oz | Dried garbanzo beans or - fava beans |
Water - to cover | ||
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Chopped cilantro |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Chopped parsley |
4 | Green onions - chopped | |
20 | Garlic - minced | |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Cumin |
1 | Baking soda | |
Salt and pepper - to taste | ||
Water; to moisten - optional | ||
Olive oil - for frying |
Rinse dried beans under running water; place in the slow cooker and cover with water (at least 2 inches over top of beans) Cook on low for 8 to 10 hours. Pour off water; rinse under cold water and allow to drain.
Place cooked beans in a food processor and add other ingredients. Blend until paste is formed.
Form the Falafel into small patties about 1 1/2" in diameter and 3/8" thick. Deep fry the patties until golden brown.
