Cwikla - Pickled Beets

Recipe Ingredients

3 cups 711mlBeets - cooked, sliced
1 tablespoon 15mlHorseradish - fresh, grated
  Or
4 teaspoons 20mlHorseradish - prepared
8   -- whole
1/2 teaspoon 2.5mlCaraway seed
2 cups 474mlVinegar
1 tablespoon 15mlBrown sugar
2 teaspoons 10mlSalt

Recipe Instructions

1. Layer beets in a glass or earthenware bowl, sprinkling layers with horseradish and cloves.

2. Boil vinegar with sugar and salt 2 minutes. Pour over the beets. Cover and refrigerate for 24 hours.
