Cheese Scones Recipe - Cooking Index
2 cups | 125g / 4.4oz | Flour |
3/4 cup | 109g / 3.8oz | Grated sharp cheddar cheese |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Baking powder |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Salt |
1/4 cup | 49g / 1.7oz | Butter - chilled, and |
Cut in pieces | ||
1/2 cup | 118ml | Milk |
2 cups | 396g / 13oz | Eggs (large) |
3/4 teaspoon | 3.8ml | Tabasco brand Pepper Sauce |
Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees.
Mix flour, cheese, baking powder and salt in large bowl or food processor. Cut in butter, using pastry blender, two knives or pulsing motion in food processor, until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. If blended in food processor, transfer mixture to large bowl.
Stir milk, eggs and Tabasco sauce in small bowl. Make a well in center of dry ingredients and add milk mixture, stir to combine. (The dough will be sticky.)
Lightly butter baking sheet. With lightly floured hands, put dough into 9-inch circle in center of prepared baking sheet. Cut circle into 8 wedges. Bake scones 20 to 25 minutes or until lightly browned.
This recipe yields 8 scones.
