Hot And Spicy Chex Party Mix Recipe - Cooking Index
Due to differences in microwave ovens, cooking time may need adjustment. These directions were developed using 625 to 700 watt ovens.
Courses: Snacks, Starters and appetizers1/4 cup | 49g / 1.7oz | Margarine or butter - melted |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Tabasco pepper sauce - (to 3 tspns) |
1 1/4 teaspoons | 6.3ml | Lawry's seasoned salt |
8 cups | 320g / 11oz | Favorite Chex brand cereals |
(corn, rice and/or wheat) | ||
1 cup | 110g / 3.9oz | Mixed nuts |
1 cup | 237ml | Pretzels |
1 cup | 146g / 5.1oz | Bite-size cheese crackers |
Microwave Oven: Combine margarine, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco pepper sauce and seasoned salt; mix well. Pour cereals, nuts, pretzels and cheese crackers into large Glad-Lock Zipper Bag.
Pour margarine mixture over cereal mixture inside Zipper Bag. Seal top of bag securely. Shake bag until all pieces are evenly coated.
Pour contents of bag into large microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high 5 to 6 minutes, stirring throroughly every 2 minutes. While stirring, make sure to scrape sides and bottom of bowl. Spread on absorbent paper to cool. Store in airtight container.
Conventional Oven: Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
Follow steps 1 and 2 above.
Pour contents of bag into open roasting pan. Bake 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Cool and store as directed above.
This recipe yields 11 cups.
