Fruity Oatmeal

Recipe Ingredients

2 cups 474mlWater
2 cups 474mlMilk
2 cups 125g / 4.4ozRegular (not instant) rolled oats
1/2 teaspoon 2.5mlSalt
3/4 cup 120g / 4.2ozRaisins or chopped pitted prunes
2   Apples or firm pears - shredded
  Ground cinnamon
  Milk or cream - warmed, for serving
  Brown sugar - for serving

Recipe Instructions

In a heavy saucepan, combine water, milk, oats and salt; place over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, cover, reduce heat to achieve a simmer, and cook for 5 minutes. Stir in the prunes, apples and cinnamon to taste; continue to simmer, stirring frequently, until tender, about 5 minutes more. Spoon into bowls. Pass milk and sugar at the table.

Yield: 4 servings.
