White Sauce Recipe - Cooking Index
3 tablespoons | 45ml | Butter |
1/4 cup | 15g / 0.5oz | Flour |
4 cups | 948ml | Milk |
Salt - to taste | ||
Freshly-ground white pepper - to taste |
Melt butter. Whisk in flour and cook a minute. Slowly add milk, whisking vigorously. Simmer for a few minutes or until thick and smooth. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Cool to room temperature, with buttered paper over top to prevent a skin from forming. Transfer to containers and freeze until needed.
This recipe yields 4 cups of sauce.
