Homemade Croutons Recipe - Cooking Index
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Olive oil |
1 | Garlic clove - peeled | |
4 | White bread - cut 3/4" cubes | |
Salt - to taste | ||
Freshly-ground black pepper - to taste |
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet, preferably non-stick. Add the garlic and remove when it is about to turn golden. Add the bread cubes and saute over low heat, stirring frequently until the bread cubes have dried out and are somewhat crisp, about 5 to 7 minutes. The fresher and softer the bread, the more tender the croutons will be. Season with salt and pepper.
This recipe yields about 2 cups.
