Spicy Red Cabbage Recipe - Cooking Index
1 1/2 lbs | 681g / 24oz | Red cabbage |
1/2 lb | 227g / 8oz | Onions - chopped |
1 | Tart apple - peeled, chopped | |
1 cup | 237ml | Pitted prunes |
1 | Garlic clove - crushed | |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Ground cinnamon |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Ground cloves |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Ground cumin |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Ground coriander |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Red wine vinegar |
Nutmeg - to taste |
Quarter, core and shred the cabbage. Place into a large pot. Add the onion, apple, prunes, garlic and spices. Mix thoroughly. Add 1/2 cup water and cover with a lid. Cook over medium heat for 2 hours. Stir frequently. Add water if needed.
