2/3 cup | 132g / 4.7oz | Shortening |
2/3 cup | 132g / 4.7oz | Butter or margarine, softened |
1 cup | 198g / 7oz | Granulated sugar |
1 cup | 160g / 5.6oz | Packed brown sugar |
2 | Eggs | |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Vanilla extract |
3 1/2 cups | 218g / 7.7oz | All-purpose flour |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Baking soda |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Salt |
1 cup | 146g / 5.1oz | Chopped nuts, if desired |
2 | 6-oz packages semi-sweet chocolate pieces |
Heat oven to 375 F. Mix thoroughly shortening, butter, sugars, eggs and vanilla. Stir in remaining ingredients. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes or until light brown. Cool slightly before removing from baking sheet.
Makes about 7 dozen cookies.
