Garlic Mashed Potatoes Recipe - Cooking Index
6 teaspoons | 30ml | Peeled Yukon Gold or Idaho potatoes (large) |
(approximately six cups) | ||
10 | Garlic cloves | |
1 | Bay leaf | |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Salt |
1/4 cup | 59ml | Buttermilk - (to 1 cup) |
Salt - to taste | ||
Freshly-ground black pepper - to taste |
In a large pot, combine the potatoes, garlic cloves, bay leaf and salt with just enough water to cover. Cover the pot, bring to a boil, then lower the heat and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender. Drain. Discard the bay leaf.
Using a potato masher, mash the potatoes and garlic with enough buttermilk to achieve a smooth consistency. Add salt and pepper to taste.
This recipe yields 6 servings.
