16 Bean Soup Recipe - Cooking Index
| 2 cups | 320g / 11oz | Mixed dried beans (1 pkg). | 
| 2 cups | 292g / 10oz | Diced ham (other options are smoked sausage, ham bone, or ham hock) | 
| 1 | Large chopped onion | |
| 1 oz | 28g | 28 oz. Can chopped tomatoes | 
| 1/2 cup | 55g / 1.9oz | Sliced carrots | 
| 1/2 cup | 55g / 1.9oz | Sliced celery | 
| 2 | Quarts Water | |
| 1 | Tsp chili powder | |
| - | Salt and pepper to taste | 
Rinse the dried beans and soak in salted water overnight. To cook, rinse the beans and place in a covered kettle with the meat product and simmer 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Add the onion, tomatoes, carrots, celery, and chili powder and simmer for another 45 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste.
