Fresh Fruit Compote Recipe - Cooking Index
1/2 cup | 118ml | Water |
1/2 cup | 99g / 3.5oz | Sugar |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Fresh lemon juice |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Vanilla |
4 cups | 948ml | Sliced seasonal fruit, including plums, |
Strawberries, blackberries, and/or | ||
Nectarines |
In a small saucepan combine water, sugar and lemon juice and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally, and boil until sugar is dissolved. Cool syrup to room temperature and stir in vanilla. In a bowl combine fruit and syrup and chill until cold. Compote may be made 4 hours ahead and chilled, covered.
This recipe yields about 4 cups of compote.
