Georgetown Red Rice Recipe - Cooking Index
1/4 lb | 113g / 4oz | Bacon |
1/2 cup | 31g / 1.1oz | Chopped onion |
2 cups | 320g / 11oz | Uncle Ben's rice |
2 1/2 cups | 156g / 5.5oz | Red tomatoes |
1 cup | 237ml | Broth - (chicken or turkey) |
1/3 cup | 78ml | Catsup |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Salt |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Pepper |
1/8 teaspoon | 0.6ml | Tabasco sauce - (optional) |
Cook bacon; remove from pan, cool, and crumble. Cook onions in bacon fat until tender; add rice, tomatoes, broth, catsup, seasonings, and crumbled bacon. Cook on low heat until rice is done, stirring several times during cooking.
