Zander

Zander is a fish which closely resembles pike. They are often sold as pike-perch, although technically they are not a hybrid of the two fish species.

Zanders can be up to 20lb in weight although it is more common to catch 3lb fish. They tend to reside in murky water and are largely active at night.

They closely resemble in looks and taste the American walleye fish.

Apart from its use as a Scrabble word, zander is a quite meaty fish which many people describe as similar to carp.
