1 lb 454g / 16ozGround chuck
1   Yellow onion - diced
2   Garlic - cloves minced
1 1/2 tablespoons 22mlChili powder - to taste
6 oz 170gTomato paste - can
1 1/2 cups 355mlWater
1 tablespoon 15mlInstant coffee
1 tablespoon 15mlSugar
1 tablespoon 15mlPaprika
1 tablespoon 15mlOregano
1 teaspoon 5mlSalt
1 teaspoon 5mlPepper
1 teaspoon 5mlCumin
1 cup 160g / 5.6ozKidney beans - drained
1 cup 160g / 5.6ozRefried beans

Recipe Instructions

*mild skinned and crumbled Brown sausage, ground meat, onion, and garlic in a pot. Add remaining ingredients except beans, bring to a boil, cover, and simmer 1 1/4 hours.

After cooking time is up, add the beans and stir. Top with grated Monterey Jack Cheese and finely chopped scallions.
