Recipe Ingredients

1   Egg yolk - slightly beat (large)
1/2 teaspoon 2.5mlGround cinnamon
1   Graham cracker pie crust
3/4 cup 46g / 1.6ozAll-purpose flour
1 tablespoon 15mlLemon juice
1/2 cup 99g / 3.5ozSugar
1/4 cup 40g / 1.4ozPacked light brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon 1.3mlSalt
1/4 teaspoon 1.3mlGround nutmeg
5 1/2 cups 1303mlSliced - peeled cooking apple
1/4 cup 49g / 1.7ozSugar
1/4 cup 40g / 1.4ozPacked light brown sugar
1/3 cup 65g / 2.3ozButter - room temperature
3 tablespoons 45mlAll-purpose flour

Recipe Instructions

Preheat oven to 374F.

Brush bottom and sides of crust, evenly, with egg yolk; bake on baking sheet until light brown, about 5 minutes. Remove crust from oven.

Combine sliced apples, lemon juice, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 3 tbs flour, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Mix well and spoon into crust.

Mix remaining flour, sugar, brown sugar and butter with fork or pastry blender until crumbly. Sprinkle topping mixture, evenly, over apples. Bake on baking sheet, about 50 minutes. Cool on wire rack. Serve at room temperature.
